I returned one last time to MLB The Show 24 to finish the Detroit VS Everybody series. In my final round, I played the Atlanta Braves.
It was quite fitting I got to have Tarik Skubal play the final round of Detroit VS Everybody. Plus I figured I would let the guys wear the city connect jeresys too! It wasn't a 1-2-3 inning for me in the 1st but I did give up zero runs. So a good start! In the bottom of the 1st, Parker Meadows singles and Riley Greene Triples! Didn't get anything more after that but I did have a 1-0 lead! Annnnd then I give up a solo home run in the top of the 2nd. So it was tied 1-1. Thankfully I gave up nothing more after that. I had 2 guys on and no outs in the bottom of the 2nd but sadly couldn't get any runs. Yeah that hurt. Top of the 3rd was a 1-2-3. In the bottom 3rd, Jake Rogers and Riley Greene have a solo shot each. Yeah a Jake Rogers home run. I know right? So after that, I had a 3-1 lead!
The top of the 4th was also 1-2-3. The 3rd out was ugly. My throw to 1st was bad but I still got the tag. I don't get any runs in the bottom 4th. But neither do the Braves in top 5th. Pretty quiet for the Tigers bats in bottom 5th. And nothing exciting in top 6th or bottom 6th. The Braves continue to do nothing fight wise in the top of the 7th. But in the bottom 7th with one out and one on, Kerry Carpenter hits a bomb out of the park to give me a 5-1 lead! Finally something exciting! And that gives me a much more comfortable lead especially in late game! In the top 8, I have Tyler Holton and Beau Brieske start warming up. Skubal's getting pretty tired and after he gets the 2nd out in the inning, I have Tyler Holton come up to finish the inning. Colt Keith hits a solo bomb in the bottom 8th to make it 6-1.
I have Will Vest, the best closer in baseball come in for the top of the 9th to finish the job! And the Tigers win 6-1 to end the Detroit VS Everybody series!... in MLB The Show 24. The Detroit VS Everybody series on its own... is not yet done. As this series will continue with the Detroit Lions in Madden NFL 25! I'll plan on using the 2022 season as my schedule as that would put the Lions with roughly an even split of road and home games. I'll do it just like I did in MLB The Show 24 where I'll play the teams that did worse than Detroit on the road and at home for the teams that did better.
It should be fun, and a very... VERY gritty experience!
