I return to the 2024 remaster of the original DOOM! Last time towards the end of the stream, I got stuck and found myself running in circles just to realize that the answer to reveal the pathway to the exit was in plain sight. Hopefully that wouldn't happen again this time.

Headed into Episode 2: Map 5, it seems to be a small, linear little area. Dark with some torches lighting the area. And yes, demons to beat. Eventually I do find a staircase that brings me to a lighter area. Yes, with more demons. After exploring around, I come across a room that looks like its walls were made with squished souls that sadly met their fate. I also find a secret room that's tiny and full about... 5 million horned heads which I have to somehow survive through. Once I did, it looks like that may have been a secret exit to the level. Nice! Right on to Map 6, Fortress of Mystery. Alright. I'm dealing with piglin creatures who kill my ass in about 3 seconds. And of course these fuckers take all damn day to kill. And there's a whopping ass load of them. Maybe the game was punishing me for finding the secret exit. Eventually I do kill them all. Just to find a room full of those... big red horned head dudes... I don't know what they're fucking called. And I don't fucking feel like looking it up. You know who I am talking about.

I decide to say... YOLO and fucking gun it. Circling around them and shooting them one by one until they are all dead. I collect my well earned super charge and continue on. There's like 4 colored doors in one area. A skull button opens a door to the blue key. The blue door reveals the red key. The red door reveals the yellow key. The yellow door ends the level! Alright then! Don't know what the hell the point of that was. But I'll take it! To the next level, Halls of the Damned. Opening the first door and there's already a giant floating red head creature. I seem to find myself against one of those green... brown... not blue poison lakes. With some small rooms at the other side. Going down a hallway leads me to a very gray room... wait this is where I just started. I see another little passage way which gives me health and leads me to a switch. What switch do? It opens another passage way with a blue door. I can't go through that but I can go through another open area. From here on, it's pretty much a little labyrinth. Yes, with demons.

Face to face with another red head. I get some ammo and power ups. Further down, the environment completely changes and now the rooms are made seemingly of wood. Yes, with demons. Invisible ones too. And then the lights flicker and die. Amazing. At that point, it's way too dark for me. I had found the blue skull key in the light area and during my time in the dark wood area, I found the red skull key. I still needed the yellow key though. I got trapped in a mini "where the hell do I go?" moment. But I did find my way back and following the map, I could tell what needed to be discovered. I find myself in a gray brick labyrinth. And I find a room with a medkit, armor, and a super charge. Nice little bonus! Oh yeah, a lot of doors open too revealing demons! HUZZAH! I then find myself in some mossy green vines and pick up the yellow skull key!

I gun... or... try to gun myself to the door. But of course about 10 trillion demons try to stop me in my tracks. But I do make it to the door, unlock it, and beat the level! Next up, Spawning Vats. Sorry what? Of course it's got more of those fucking piglins. Are the piglins called vats? Along the way, I pick up an invulnerability which seemingly gives me an inverted black and white vision. But yeah I am definitely invincible! Doesn't last very long though. I find another secret room that gives me some rockets. Not much of a secret. I see a yellow key card but it seems to be just out of reach. So I continue on. I am quickly running out of ammo for everything. I need ammo. I do find the exit door but at the moment, it's inaccessible. Wandering around some more, I find a teleporter which seems to be... heavily in use. Checking it out and I found out why. There were a lot of buff bull demons trying to use it. Nothing else other than a locked red door.

I find another secret area which of course is dark to all hell and full of demons. At least I got ammo out of it. Later on I find a storage room. Yes, with demons. A lot. And blow through a lot of ammo I just got. I get another invulnerability which lets me kill like... one red head before losing the power up. I find some electrical rooms with goodies and demons. And I also unlock the full map too. And it's a big one. Going up further, literally up, all of a sudden a console window just fucking appears out of nowhere. I must've opened it but I didn't know how to close it. Conveniently, a demon was there to just suck the life out of me and there was nothing I could do about it. Trying to move just made my console go "awdsawdsawdswadswadsawdswa". I ended up actually closing down the whole game by typing "quit". Joy. Thankfully I had just recently saved so I lost very little progress.

I retrace my steps. And this time not open any console windows. But first I wanted to see how I opened it in the first place. It was the tilde key. Mystery solved! Anyways, I poked another switch, and then went through a door which had shotgun demons. After that, I find the path to the yellow key and collect it! Opening the yellow door and I instantly get blasted with fire shooting demons. At least I think it's fire. I call it fire. Going back to the room with the exit door, I'm then able to now poke a switch. Which of course opens a door revealing another red head which I quickly take care of. Behind the switch door was another switch which raised a platform, letting me exit out the level. Whew! I think that's enough demon blasting for one day. I can only go through so much hell after all.

Next time, I'll be needing a stroll through the Tower of Babe.
