For the next game in my SGDQ 2025 block, I checked out Kirby Super Star Ultra! Like many games in this block, I haven't really checked out a Kirby game before. And I think this was a nice intro into the series for me!

This Kirby game... at least I assume... is not like other ones. This one is split into several little... minigames. Not like 30 second Mario Party games. More like mini Kirby experiences. Each one having a story. First one being Spring Breeze where King Dedede has stolen the food of Dream Land! THE HORRORS! It's up to me to save the day... and the food! Something weird I noticed right off the bat was that the intro cutscene seemed a little... speedy... but the gameplay itself was just fine. Which dumped me into a tutorial. Granted, my choice. And hey I'm glad I did because it actually taught me some good shit. Controls, Mechanics, etc. Once I got the basics down, it was time to play! Starting with Stage 1, Green Greens! Yeah. It was green. Once in game, it definitely felt like your traditional Kirby game. Even all the way to losing my ability and failing to get it back. Yeah it's a Kirby game! Thankfully the cutter ability I picked up was already way more OP! I take a warp star down to a more forest area where I face my first boss. A bomb chucker with no arms. So how can it chuck bombs? Well that's beyond me. At the end of the stage is the boss of the level. Whispy Woods. You know the giant tree with the face? Of course it wasn't that hard to beat it and I got my winners star! Next up was Float Islands! Not much floating here though, there's like... a small ass patch of water at the start before getting dumped into a cave. To which I find a secret door and collect an extra life! I end up releasing my ability which then turns into a helper as stated in the tutorial. So I don't quite throw it away. I just turn it into an enemy that switched roles and is now helping me. I pick up some invincible candy and rush my way to the boss, Mr. Frosty. Which is easily destroyed because of my invincibility!

But that wasn't the end of the stage now. There was more. I still wasn't floating. This level is a scam. Anyways, the final boss of this level was Lololo and Lalala. What great names am I right? Just some dudes pushing some boxes around. Getting out of the way. Not that hard I defeated those dudes in 40 seconds. Bubbly clouds was the next stage. And this one was no lie. Those clouds were indeed bubbly! I lost my cutter ability but this time I just BARELY got it back. The clouds did end once I entered this sky palace area. Which somehow ended me up in a night sky area? I don't know how that works. I then reached the next boss. Kracko Jr. I guess you could say that EYE got a wonderful victory!... okay that's kind of a big joke because it sounds like the eye won but... it didn't. Oh yeah I also died a horrible death when I thought at the end of the next area, there was a secret passage by going down the hole... no it was just death. Yes, my stupid ass did it again. This time I actually did go the right way to face Kracko! Oh yeah I also had another helper to assist me. Poppy Bro Jr. The bomb chucker. That and my cutter took this bigger eye down no problem! Gonna need some eye drops after that. For the eye. Not me. The final stage in Spring Breeze was Mt. Dedede! Where we took on King Dedede. Big and tough? Nah it's just a bigger target. And all the food of the land was saved! HOORAY! After that I unlocked 3 new modes! The game also broke! Yeah I don't know why but for some reason all my controls just... died. I couldn't not interact with the game in any way, shape, or form. Thankfully after resetting the game, that fixed it. Whew! Crisis averted!

Next game was Dyna Blade. In this game, the... Dyna Blade has disrupted the crops. No culprit here. We just gotta jump in. The first stage here was Peanut Plains. I get my trust cutter again and head on my way! You know... there certainly isn't a lot of peanuts going on here. Unless the ground and things around me are all supposed to be like... a bright peanut butter or something. I let my cutter, Sir Kibble become a helper as I get the beam power up! And not too long later it's on to face Chef Kawasaki. Maybe he's pissed all the peanuts are gone and blames me for it. Was the foe a challenge? No of course not. This time after beating a stage I get a little cannon minigame where based on how strong I launch myself will determine my reward! I wonder if Super Star Ultra is trying to mimic Kirby games of the past. Anyways I get past the 3 sign. Not exactly sure if I get past 2. But I do still get an extra life! Next stage, Mallow Castle! Not the mallows I was thinking of. The stage didn't look that white and fluffy. I mean it was still visually appealing though. With its nice mix of citrus colors in the foreground and a bumpy, checkerboard background. I was also introduced to the wheel power in this stage. And yes, it's broken. Free invincibility essentially! Bonkers stood no chance! Headed to Cocoa cave, it is a cave with bright stone chunk hallways. A secret area shows a 1up in the corner. Sadly it was out of my reach. Thankfully another room had a much more easier 1up to grab... oh it was a troll actually. I blow the bomb, the 1up falls to the void, so do I. Rest in peace Sir Kibble.

After thinking I was somehow soft locked, I do eventually blow the bomb with nothing but me, myself, and I. I guess that 1up is near impossible to collect. I do get a beam powerup just to have something. Floating past the water, I let Waddle Doo become a helper as I obtain an ice power. Cold, not that interesting to me. So I let Chilly become a helper instead. I take the warp star to the outer forest and gain the fighter ability. It... PACKS A PUNCH! HAHA! Bugzzy gets pounded. Hell I get a perfect cannon shoot at the end and collect 3 extra lives! Next stage is Candy Mountain. Fuck now I'm hungry. My poor little Chilly guy gets stuck but thankfully warps back once I get far away enough. Though sadly I... lost him in the lava area. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't traverse carefully enough. Rest in peace my cute little snowman. I shortly later got demon face in my... face... and died. I use my mike ability to take for Mr. Frosty and beat the lev... oh wait Bonkers was back. Thankfully I took them down without a power and went to finish the lev... oh for fucks sake it's Poppy Bros Sr. Okay... FOR REAL! THE DUDES ARE DEAD AND THE LEVEL IS OVER! Time for the final level which was Dyna Blade's Nest! After picking my power, the bright and shiny sword, it was time to defeat the dude who was involved in destroying those damn crops. Okay well I actually admit this bird is a lot stronger than I thought and I died to death. Then again I didn't realize you could die to it as it was flying towards the fucking screen. The next time I was more careful and took down the bird. I even lost my power in the process and still beat the fucker with like... 1 HP left.

Next up was The Great Cave Offensive. A bit different of a mode as this one was about treasure hunting! No individual levels here... I don't think. This might be more open world as I search for as many treasures as I can. Still while taking powers and defeating enemies. The first treasure I found was the Gold Medal at 10 thousand coins. Good start! And a gold coin at 1 thousand coins. eh? There were a few chests I couldn't get to because of barricades that were blocking my way. I had to collect what I could and the chests just easily out in the open. In the open cave area I found another chest with a lucky cat at 500 gold! Perhaps that'll get me to more treasure? Not quite but it does lead me to a save room where I can then end the stream. Huh... I guess that cat was quite lucky!
