I'm losing to kids. I'm not happy about that.

For the next game in the Summer Games Done Quick 2025 block, I check out Backyard Baseball '97! Which you could also technically consider to be a Humongous Summer Games 2025 block bonus stream since this game was published by Humongous!

I jump right into it with a pickup game! My team is the Mighty Fishes! After I pick my team, it's time to play! And my batting performance is... abysmal... despite picking good players, I couldn't get anything. No, my pitching and fielding was no better. I guess even after you click on a base, apparently based on where your mouse is, the ball will just... automatically be thrown there causing me to give up unneeded bases. I ended up giving up 4 runs in bottom 1st. Not... not good. I did actually get a real hit in top 2nd! And... that's it. What you think I'd get runs out of that? In the top of the 6th, these kids were already getting on my fucking nerves and I just had to shut them up. I'm sure some people enjoy hearing HEY BATTER BATTER BATTER BATTER. Not me. It felt so good just having it be... quiet. Up until the 6th inning my pitching was pretty good. I played around with different pitches and even used some of the special ones the game gave me. Like an elevator pitch and a corkscrew. But I guess that was no match for Luanne Lui's fucking metal bat in the bottom 6th. I gave up a home run plus a run earlier. So we were down 7 to zip. I think it's time for a pitching change. My new guy gets out of the inning with no more damage. Though I still couldn't create any damage myself. Not with a power hit. Not with a line drive hit. Not with a grounder hit. Not with a bunt. But then again I did not bunt.

I did give up another run in bottom 7th. Down 8-0, no damn clue how to play... yeah I don't think we were winning this one. Yeah a double play in top 9th just finished the job early. I needed practice since I clearly had no fucking idea how to play. During practice, I found there was an option for a pitch locator. An in game cheat I could've used 5 years ago? Yep. While I don't think I did great in practice, I think the pitch locator did help and once I found an optimal... enough strategy, I decided to take just a few more minutes on the field. But you know how you feel like you are just a master when you practice but when you play the actual game you just fail horribly? Yeah that's what happened when I got back in an actual game. Not to play the whole thing but to test my batting. I just wanted to feel fucking satisfied with myself. Was that too much to ask? Finally after like... 10 minutes I finally hit a ball to left field for a home run. I SCORED! WOOOOOO! HUZZAH! START THE PARADE! I AM A BACKYARD BASEBALL FUCKING CHAMPION! Well... obviously until I have to play a whole game again. In which case I'll probably lose 34-2 against the... little socks....
