That's one hell of an imagination.

As you know I've been doing new Winter and Summer games blocks. And I didn't want to miss out on a new Summer games block this year. But... I didn't have as much money for new games this year so during the Steam Summer sale, I was like... what could I get? That's when I saw a bunch of Humongous Entertainment games in my wish list that had some damn nice discounts. Not much since the games were already cheap to begin with. But I picked up 10 new games in that lineup including Pajama Sam, SPY Fox, and Putt-Putt!
Starting the block with Pajama Sam 1. No need to hide when it's dark outside. In this game, Sam fights his fear of darkness. As he goes to battle it out in his closet. But as he does, he falls... somehow into this weird night underground world. Full of knickknacks right off the bat. While I'm exploring, I also collect socks I was told to pick up. How they ended up down there is beyond me. As I travel onward, Sam finds himself getting trapped by a rope and suddenly these trees begin talking. Well that's already one drug fueled weird ass experience. The trees let me go but not before them taking my lunchbox, flashlight, and mask. Damn. Those trees are assholes. At least there's one tree that's actually nice and sweet. Too bad she couldn't help me when the bossy ass trees were torturing me. The nice tree let me keep the rope that was attached to her. Going onward there was a 3 way split path. Paths headed to the darkness house, a boat dock, and the mines. Of course I go straight to the darkness house. Where I have to use a lift to get in and to lift it up, I have to use some rocks conveniently near me and NBA hoop them into the basket above.
The first room I enter is a kitchen. A very... musical kitchen with literally everything in there putting on a little piece. Why? Quite frankly... I couldn't fucking tell you. And the next room is even WEIRDER. Full of furniture and equipment fucking alive and dancing to disco music. Of course once they realize I am there, they turn back into just... regular furniture. Despite Sam telling the equipment that they can keep dancing, absolutely nothing happens. It's just a regular room with regular stuff in it. It's only until Sam leaves that the furniture starts dancing again. I'm only 15 minutes into the game and this is already a weird ass fever drug dream. Oh but it gets worse. Now there are these fucking doors who talk and host a game show called the Brain Tickler. A basic trivia game. There are 4 categories to choose from with each category having a question. Some questions being trickier than others. Oh yeah Pajama Sam games are edutainment games. Made for like... 4 year olds... and yet some questions I could not answer. I guess I have to go back to preschool. It didn't help that the last category, "Land of Darkness" had a question I literally could not answer. Nothing can be easy anymore. I actually have to go out and do research
Headed to the mines, I meet a talking minecart named mud. But that's not his name. He seems depressed because rust got stuck on his wheels so he's not able to move. Okay so mines are no go. On to the Boat Dock. Where I meet a talking boat named Otto. I guess everything just fucking talks here in the magical closet land. Otto seems to have a fear of water because he believes wood sinks in water. So I have to go convince him that wood indeed floats in water. Conveniently, there was a plank of wood towards the beginning of closet land and with the rope I acquired, I was able to pull it upward. I got the wood in return that the rope sinks in the water. See rope sinks. Thankfully the nice tree didn't care that I lost her rope. Anyways, after I show Otto that wood does indeed float on water, all of a sudden his fear is erased and is able to give me a ride. I come across a bridge... guess what? It talks. And apparently there's a toll to cross the bridge which is a pound of gold. So many fucking curveballs it's not even funny. So I just go under the bridge and find a small shed. Which contains Sam's flashlight. There's a stump next to the shed which has an oil can on it. Unfortunately I can't seem to go in the shed because there's no knob. But there's a WIDE open window. It didn't seem to have a sheet of glass on it. But whatever.
Otto and I ride down a waterfall where I find the lunchbox sunk in the water. How the fuck it ended up there is beyond me. In fact... same with the flashlight. Given the mean trees took them. How they lost those items that badly is... well... still beyond me. I then ride up a geyser. Otto doesn't seem thrilled about the geyser and doesn't particularly enjoy riding it upwards. I come across a forest area with a hallow log in the area. After Sam gets his head stuck in the log, after being a fucking idiot and shoving his head in there, all it takes is falling down for it to just slip right off. Sure. There are more talking trees in the forest. Of course there are. Despite the trees telling me to run along, they won't actually let me forward. For fucks sake. It's like every little bit of progress I make, I find myself going backwards. At least I had an oil can and so I was able to oil up mud's wheels to unrust them. The track, or rollercoaster leads me down the mines where I also find a water meter with the number I need to answer the last question on the Brain Tickler. I also find a pickaxe. Specifically one for mining gold. Conveniently, there's a tunnel that is clear as day a gold tunnel. Or... not? I ride the track but it just leads me back out the outside of the tunnel... okay? So... no gold? Scammed.
I go back to the house of darkness and answer the last question to enter into the doors of knowledge. In the doors are... more doors. One of them leading into a music room. With instruments that talk of course. And a Beethoven head statue. At least I assume it's Beethoven. Anyways I can't seem to do much in there. Besides bang my head into a gong. There is a chandelier I can seemingly go up to. But not at the moment. Another one of the doors has a very weak knob that falls right off when I grab it. Yeah I knew exactly what to do with the knob. I meet back with Otto and ride back to the shed with no knob. I place the knob on the shed and after I unrust the hinges, the door magically opens where I am then able to grab my flashlight! But now... where do I go? I've already seemed to exhaust my options. After going in circles, I find out my cursor turns into an arrow when I'm on the GOLD rollercoaster in the mines. And it turns out I could actually choose where I go and it's not just purely a cutscene. And it turns out, there WAS gold in the mines. Too bad the pickaxe was weak as fuck. But I still got my gold. Which I will give to the talking bridge next time I play this game!
In seriousness though, I'm concerned about Sam. What does he talk to the table during lunch at school?
