A freaking turnaround.

With a 116-93 win against the Philadelphia 76ers, the Detroit Pistons CLINCH the 1st seed in the Eastern Conference and will host the 8 seeded... whoever the fucks. XD! Basically the winner of the winner of 9/10 against the loser of 7/8... I think that's how that works. But I mean holy fuck just 2 years ago they won FOURTEEN GAMES! And then they told Monty Williams to eat dirt, hired J.B. Bickerstaff, and then everything was happy land in the motor city! Was his first year perfect? No. However a 30 game improvement was still an accomplishment. I'm still pissed Bickerstaff didn't get coach of the year that time. And if he doesn't get it this year then there will be fucking riots. I think for one big reason. Cade Cunningham, the Pistons star player has missed a good chunk of games. Unfortunately a collapsed lung took him out of MVP talks. However the Pistons showed they can still win games even without him. Players like Jalen Duren and Daniss Jenkins take the front stage and have helped aid the team to win when Cade couldn't be there. At least it is nice to know he'll be back come the playoffs. I just hope the Pistons can get past the first round. I mean yeah they're the 1 seed but even then I still see 2 teams that could be the biggest threat if the Pistons play them. The Pistons are 1-2 against the Miami Heat and split the season series 2-2 with the Orlando Magic. As of right now those 2 teams stand in play-in territory. The other 2 as of right now are the Philadelphia 76ers and the Charlotte Hornets. Pistons ended up sweeping the 76ers 4-0 this year and won the first 2 games against the Hornets and have 1 more date together coming up. Okay yes yes I get it. The Hornets have been a fucking anomaly this year. Like they were 12 games BELOW .500 early January this year. And as of writing this blog they are 6 games ABOVE. And the Hornets have beaten some solid fucking teams. The Knicks, Celtics, Rockets, they have a win against the fucking SPURS for crying out loud! However if the Pistons do play the Hornets in round 1, I still have a good feeling they can get past them even if it takes 7 games to do so. Right now the team I want to play the most in round 1 is definitely the 76ers. Followed by Hornets, then Heat, then Magic. Now obviously getting Cunningham back is going to be BIG come the playoffs.
Hi, future V here... well... future as in I started writing this blog before the Play-In started and I was lazy as shit to finish before it started. Yes I am aware the Pistons are of course playing the fucking Orlando Magic. The one team I did NOT want to play and of course that's who they're playing. Not that I don't think the Pistons can't beat the Magic. Though I do think Detroit might have to work just a tinge harder if they want to make it to round 2. Fucking Charlotte dude I mean they have a damn good end to their season but then get blown out in the 2nd play-in game. (Sigh)
Not only that but there's the advantage that Cade will be rested and healthy with a full fucking tank of stamina. And a squad behind him including Duren, Henkins, Harris, Robinson, and Stewart... they'll be one to definitely not be slept on. Not like they could be 2 fucking years ago. I am incredibly impressed with what this team has done. I was not expecting them to actually clinch the 1st seed. Not only that but they were the first team this year to actually dead LOCK a spot. Yes... the Pistons locked a spot before the fucking Oklahoma City Thunder. Albeit it is TIGHT between the Thunder and Spurs. Thank fuck we don't have to see either of them until the NBA finals. Not that the Pistons can't beat them. Though it won't be easy. The west is a fucking POWERHOUSE compared to the east. Though if I had to choose I'd almost say I want to play the Thunder over the Spurs. Especially given the Pistons most recent game in Oklahoma City. I'm impressed the Pistons nearly beat the Thunder. Now what 2 teams am I most concerned about potentially playing in the playoffs? Well definitely the Celtics and Cavaliers. They got a hell of their own squads. Pistons have a 2-2 split on the Cavaliers but did win the Celtics series 3-1. So maybe there's a shot there. Now if the Pistons play the Knicks... I mean hey I'm not saying anything is a guarantee... I will say the Pistons did sweep the Knicks though and I mean hey if you look at last year? When the Pistons played the Knicks, despite losing the series in 6, it was fairly competitive... okay maybe besides the first game when the Knicks went on that 20-0 run or what the fuck ever. You could still at least say that series is what got Thibs fired... I mean yeah the Knicks made it to the East finals but come on... barely beating the Pistons in most of the games and losing 2 of which in your own home? Huh maybe if the Pistons do meet the Knicks again maybe the Pistons can get Mike Brown fired! XD! I do want to see the Pistons at least win a playoff series this time. I mean for fucks sake they're the 1 seed. I already felt heartbreak watching another 1 seed Detroit team fall way too early. I don't need to see another one dammit!
Regardless, what a fun fucking season this has been for the Motor City Basketballers! Since when would we say now we expect the Pistons to WIN? After two years ago, losing what... 28 straight games? Realistically do I expect the Pistons, despite being the 1 seed to make the finals? No I don't. If they do that'll be nice. But it will be tough competition. It'd be like a couple years ago, yeah the Lions were the 1 seed but the Eagles being the 2 seed really were the better team. BUT... don't sleep on the fucking Pistons. People will scream they had a cupcake schedule but don't forget, the Pistons have proven they can beat good teams... and also lose a game to the Brooklyn Nets but we don't talk about that. If Detroit can get hot and especially nail 3 pointers? That will help send them far. Home court advantage all the way fucking through... assuming somehow neither the Thunder nor the Spurs make the finals. Since home court there is determined on better regular season record. And both of them do have better records than the Pistons. Nuggets at 3 are 6 games worse. Oh yeah boo-hoo a fucking 54-28 record for Denver. XD! Realistically what teams from the west would I say the Pistons have the BEST shot against? Probably the Los Angeles Lakers or Minnesota Timberwolves. But then again the Lakers have to worry about how far they're going to get through without 2 of their greatest guys. I could say more but honestly I think I might start going on tangents or repeating a bunch of shit. Wait you think I read my own blogs as I write them? XD! Either way, the road to the finals runs through fucking Detroit. And it's going to be a hell of a season.
Oh and again, Bickerstaff gets COTY or we fucking riot.
