I finally get to bust out my Switch 2 again! But not in the way you think. This time, I check out the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour! A tech demo showcasing the power of what this sequel console can do!

After picking my avatar, I am granted entry into the plaza area which is... well a giant fucking Switch 2! XD! We start with the left Joy-Con 2. These areas all have quiz areas, stamps, and mini-games to check out. I get a learn about how the new HD Rumble works in the new Joy-Con 2's and the Switch 2 Pro Controller! After I am given my brief cliff notes, it's time to quiz my new knowledge! These quizzes are honestly pretty easy. As long as you pay attention enough to your study guide, you can pass these quizzes pretty easily. Which is what i happily did! These different sections also have stamps that are generally located around the main parts of the section you are on. Typically you can find the stamps near the buttons and sensors. And of course the mini-games too. The first one I check out utilizes the mouse function of the Joy-Con 2. Dodging spiked balls the name of the game. I can collect medals here for surviving 20 and 30 seconds. Easy right? 20 seconds, sure. But after that. Holy piss those balls have no mercy. Almost has a Tou-Hou feeling. I did get close with 27.43 seconds. I was disappointed. But determined. You just need to get lucky and find open areas. I did eventually reach the 30 second threshold. Hell I even popped off a bit and added an extra 12 seconds to it. Didn't need to. I got what I needed. And both medals were mine! The 2nd version of the game is about catching stars. Same idea, avoid the spiked balls. But collect stars in the process. No you don't need to collect every one you see. You can let stars fall if you don't feel safe grabbing some. I did manage to get both medals here for 20 and 40 stars pretty quickly. There is a 3rd version of this game. But I need 31 medals to unlock it. Damn. Okay how about a mini-game that uses the HD Rumble 2? In the first version of the game, you simply move along the X-axis. Guessing where the rumble is strongest. Medals here for 50 and 20... meters?... away. Nintendo didn't specifically specify what units we use. Didn't take too awful long here. I had some close guesses... and some guesses. But a guess that was just 4 meters away from the strongest point gave me the 2nd medal! The 2nd version of the game needed 7 medals and I had... 6. Okay how about just a simple demo that showcase the rumble!

This wasn't a game per-se. More so a simulation. I get to shake my Joy-Con 2's like maracas! I can choose to simulate beads or a rubber ball inside the maracas. I am honestly impressed? I could actually feel it! That's pretty fucking cool! Doing all the tasks does still get me a medal so I can check out the other version of the HD Rumble game. This one is definitely tougher given you use now both the X and Y axis. Medals again for 50 and 20 meters away. But this one took me a while. I could get a sense of where the rumble was coming from? But I would always be still quite a ways away. And sometimes I would be so fucking far to the point where I'd be like HOW THE FUCK WAS I THAT FAR AWAY? In total, it took me just less than 13 minutes to finally get the 20 meter medal. Good grief. I am scared what part 3 will have in store. That seems to be all the mini-games for section A. That I could play at least. But not so fast on trying to get to section B. I still need to discover all the stamps for section A. There are a lot. But like I said, they're usually around the buttons and the sensors and shit of the section you're on. D-Pad, Joy-stick, shoulder and side-shoulder buttons, player LED, mouse sensors and bumpers, and more! Oh yeah I also learn things such as that the Joy-Con 2's don't actually have magnets in them. Instead, the side-shoulder buttons have steel in them which attach magnetically to the console which actually houses the magnets. And that you can even attach the Joy-Con 2's backwards too! Well that's a step up. Remember when with the OG Joy-Con's, people would put the straps on wrong and then they get stuck? Good times! After discovering all stamps for the left Joy-Con 2, I could finally access the meat and potatoes! The main display! Unfortunately I actually ran into a bit of a... scuff when it came to these mini-games. The first one required a 120 Hz display. And unfortunately the TV I was using only supported up to 60 Hz. So unfortunately I couldn't showcase this game live. What I had to do was undock my Switch 2, play the game and then when I was finished, take a 30 second recording, and show it that way. The game itself was pretty simple. You pay attention to a ball flying across your screen and you have to guess the FPS of said ball.

Some stages were definitely tougher. What you think I can see the FPS of the ball when it's moving 300 MPH across the screen? Thankfully all you need is 5 of 6 right to get both medals. The 2nd mini-game here too is the same deal. Though at least it's more understandable given you need to literally use the touchscreen. Which can support 10 touch points all at once! Now why in the fuck you would need 10 fingers actively touching the screen? That's beyond me. The mini-game here in question was essentially Twister. You would be told what color you need to touch and then hold a finger on said color until the end of the game. If you let go or veer that finger away for too long, the game is over. I did eventually get all 3 medals here. 6 and 9 points are the 2 default medals but you can get an extra 3rd one if you manage 10.

Though who said you needed to use fingers? I should've used my nose dammit!
