It's not Cuphead no no. It's Potboy.

Happy 2026 everyone! It's that time of the year again where I get to play a shit load of new games! And when I say shit load... oh it really is a shit load this time. Over 100 new games this time in this New Winter Games Block. Or shall we call it... The Winter Jackpot! This block will be my longest yet and will probably last a long ass time. One of the big reasons why I introduced my NeedNoMics II channel so I can stream other things too during this block. Just like the Halloween and Christmas special blocks, Mr. Wheel returns to hand pick for me the games I will be playing during the Jackpot block! Starting with a bit of a horror game because Mr. Wheel just fucking loves me! The Midnight Walk being the name of the game.
After having to restart the game because it wouldn't work the first time, we were in business. I remembered the main reason why I got this game was because of its art style. Seems like we embark on a journey that takes place after the world has been engulfed by the sun and this is the remains... okay it literally doesn't say it was engulfed by the sun. But it is the end of the world. My name? The burnt one. I wake up having essentially no vision or hearing. Well... I do but it's very minimal. Eventually this... creature pops out and literally pulls its eyes out and gives them to me... ew... creepy. Now that I can see... I almost wish I couldn't because this massive hand with an eyeball pops out... also ew... I am met up by an eyeless creature who gives me its ears. So now I have seeing and hearing! A big mechanic in this game is the ability to close my eyes to find hidden things. Doing so as it tells me to doesn't reveal anything. But I'm sure this ability will become useful come the future. After pulling out a million drawers, I find a key I can use to open up a door behind me. I tell you the creatures I come across must be some weird... mutations that were caused by said end of the world events. A couple I come across are awoken after I light up a fire for them using a big ass matchstick I find from a big ass match box. I can also use these matchsticks to light candles that eventually open up paths for me. Got to be quick though. These matches don't last forever. And sometimes these paths spread darkness quickly around me and these 2 creepy ass eyes open up and stare me deep down my soul... yeah can I stop playing this game now? I find a small cupboard that has a ragdoll toy in it... oh... cool... I will... gladly put it into my collection? Continuing to walk down is when I meet the first of many enemy creatures. I know it's an enemy because it roars at me and begins to chase me down. So I now know it's a good time to sprint like the fucking wind before I become food for whatever the hell this creature is. Thankfully I do not become its food and I can continue onward. One of the perks to closing my eyes is when I come across something that has an eye on it, if I close my eyes, that path then opens up and I can keep on going.
Unfortunately this next path has another one of those creatures that wants to eat me so badly so I know I am once again sprinting like the wind. Eventually it gives up on chasing me and that's when I find this little guy just kind of sitting in the one lone patch of light. From the first impressions it seems pretty passive. If anything it's actually more scared of me. I know that because the moment i bring it to life, it runs away from me until it finds a place to hide. Turns out this little dudes name is Potboy... huh... well anyways Potboy enjoys coal and I must feed it some. Maybe then Potboy will grow a liking to me. After I feed it a couple pieces, he trusts me and has me follow him. Potboy has the ability to travel through these tube like things. Doing so lets him knock down a bridge I can then walk across. Shellphones are items I can pick up in which they play messages left by... whoever... this first one seemingly being the history of the shelters created here in this post-world end civilization. I find another one of those giant eyes that open up a path. This one also opens the door for another one of those giant burnt one eating creatures. The game hints I can hide in wardrobes. But I think I ran so far away that I actually missed the wardrobe in question. Seeming that I had literally nowhere to go, I actually had to sacrifice myself to it just so I could get back to where I was. This time I find the wardrobe and hide in it until it's safe to run away from that giant thing that wants to eat my bones off. Once I get some candles lit, a new path opens up where I must light up some more candles. One of them isn't easy to get to as when I try to get Potboy to be shot up to one of the candles, something is blocking its way. But all it takes is just closing my eyes and the path is cleared for my little guy to which I can then let it light the candle and open up the new pathway! I collect another shellphone. So I guess those giant things that want to eat me are called crawlers. That is fitting. Not only do they eat creatures like me, but they eat fire too. And I don't know how but while I was exploring the next area, I seemingly got... stuck next to a wardrobe. I mean seriously I couldn't move and I suddenly because fucking crawler food. Now that's just not fair at all.
So I have Potboy light up a candle and as a crawler is eating the fire, that gives me time to bolt away from it and I pick up a Köket. I don't know what a Köket is but I'm sure I will find out soon enough. After a bridge collapses on me, I have to relight Potboy's head to wake him back up. All of this was the... I don't know whether you call it a tutorial area or perhaps a prologue or whatever. As I walk down, it looks like I meet these... conjoined twins as they tell me that it's my responsibility to carry Potboy to this place called Moon Mountain. Looks like that might be my primary objective of the game. Headed further down and Potboy takes me to its home. I didn't even realize it had a proper house. All that was needed was for him to open the door... for him to open the door... FOR HIM TO OPEN THE DAMN DO-it's open... yay! Not much inside other than the shit I collected. Oh yeah the house has a name too. Housy... what a name! Oh and as for that Köket? It's a record I can play. The moment I leave, Housy comes to life... this game really does make me question everything. I pick up another shellphone. This message short and cryptic. Telling me to close my eyes and that they sense and feel me... yeah I don't like that. Potboy seemingly wants to go one way... but I choose to go down another as I find this small civilization made of old and rotten foods... yummy! I hide in another wardrobe to avoid another crawler until I can bolt off again. If there is no wardrobe to hide inside, there are other areas where I can hide behind. I'll know I am hidden if my vision darkens. Once I get a crawler to eat some fire, I start running again. Not for long though as I have very little time to react not realizing I found myself right next to another form of crawler. The game gave me about 0.13 seconds to react once it told me to run. I may have shat my pants there. So now that I knew I was running, it was just go time. Full fucking send until we meet back with Housy. It opens up a path for me where we find this... weird floating spherical thing floating above what might be Moon Mountain. I guess Potboy needs some time to spend with Housy as I head off on my own for now. I feed it some coal once it comes back to me and find another campfire thing I can light up.
Once I light up the fire, it seems to then wake up this cowboy creature dude thing. He warns me that while the walk to Moon Mountain seems easy enough... I might also face the unexpected. Housy also joins the conversation. Sounds like whoever owned Housy previously... I don't know weren't the kindest? Can't confirm that for sure. All we know is that Housy did run away from the people that used to own it. Mr. Cowboy advises me to keep Potboy safe during my journey. That's what I'll plan on doing. Eventually I meet up with the same darkness with those soul staring eyes that stared me down earlier in the game... I have a feeling that this thing will be following me in this journey. There is another shellphone I find. Seems like whoever was recording this message was stuck in a void of darkness. And in that darkness, all it needs is just a little light. A light to offer to what is probably one of those crawlers. I have Potboy heat up a furnace thingy which will raise up a platform and get me access to collect another graphic. Showing a hand throwing a match into the darkness. I get my match... but how do I throw it? It actually took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out. Given I couldn't throw the match whenever I wanted. I had the right idea by waiting for the game to just make me throw it once the match was out. I was just throwing it to the wrong darkness. It was the darkness with the black smoke stuff I needed to throw the match to in which those darkness eyes would meet me again and throw me a key. I open the door to the next area and end it there. The Midnight Walk is a horror game but it's very tame on the horror. It is quite an interesting game and I do actually like how linear the game is. I know some may judge me for preferring more linear games. But that's just my preference. I enjoy games where I know I can make forward progress and not just run around butt naked for 500 years. You better believe I'll be coming back to this game. Whether that be on the main channel or NeedNoMics II. And this was just one of over one-hundred new games in this block. We are only just getting started.
I have so many new games, I might actually be playing them until next Christmas. XD!
