Hey everyone! Monika here from the Miicord Crew! I have decided to help aid V by continuing the SGDQ 2025 levels in Mario Maker 2. Hoping to at least beat one so then he'd have less to play. Given they have been relatively tough so far from what he said. Little did I know that perhaps I was the one who will need the aid.
V played a tad bit of this level last time he played the SGDQ 2025 levels. Right off the bat you have to jump over a Boo riding a Thwomp coming after you, jump off a P-Switch that sits above some spikes, spin jump on a bumper so you can spin off a buzzy beetle shell, grab a POW block, jump off a Mecha-Koopa, jump over another Thwomp Boo combo, jump off a flying Mecha-Koopa, drop the POW, grab a P-Switch yeah it's a lot. Oh yeah you gotta avoid the giant fire bars at the beginning too. How good was I at executing it? Uh... well I wasn't dogshit at it. Trying to drop the POW block was definitely the hardest part. Given you have to be holding only down when you release it. Oh and trust me... that is FAR from easy doing that on a Switch Pro Controller™. Given how damn sensitive the D-Pad is. Seriously it's squishy and soft. Oh you think you're holding just down? No. It's right and down. Which is why I felt most of the time I was throwing the POW block and not releasing it. At first I thought when I grabbed the P-Switch, I'd have to land on the POW, jump and throw the P-Switch, land back on the POW, and jump off it. Here's the thing, you don't have the time to do all that. Oh yeah... sometimes the 2nd Thwomp/Boo combo will just not have the Thwomp for some reason. Overall... I was getting absolutely nowhere. Nearly 30 minutes into the stream and I was still stuck on the POW/P-Switch area. I thought... okay maybe what if I quickly grab the P-Switch, drop it on the POW and then land on the P-Switch? Well... to be honest... that idea only sounds good on paper. You try that in game? You will fail miserably. Plus the P-Switch has to be on that floor of spikes that the spiny is walking on. 44 minutes into the stream and I am still stuck. I didn't want to spend the whole stream stuck on that part. So I asked my little ol' friend known as... the internet and saw how others did it. So I was right before when I thought I had to throw the P-Switch on the spike platform. But I have to jump off the POW block, drop the P-Switch, and spin jump off it. My poor fingers can only work so fast! XD! Hell I even resorted to using the Joy-Cons at this point because I felt like it would be easier to use the D-Pad on that given all the directions are separate buttons.
I switch to the Joy-Cons. While they are smaller, it's easier to handle my control... not at first. But overtime I became more accustomed to it. And 54 minutes into the stream, I finally got the drop and jump off the P-Switch... and it was the wrong kind of jump. I needed to spin jump not regular jump. But... progress? Just over an hour in I finally got the spin jump. Alright cool! Annnnd I missed the spiny entirely. I got too excited from just getting the spin jump. I still wasn't getting very consistent with it though. And even when I landed on the P-Switch, I wasn't getting the spin jump down. I don't know if I wasn't pressing the trigger button in time or if it was another factor. Like perhaps I was holding down another button and it was interfering. I almost thought maybe I could indeed to a regular jump and squeak through the spikes and land on the yellow blocks. But I think doing the spin jump was the way to do it. It still felt like it was taking a long ass time for me to make progress. I kept dying a lot or restarting at the POW/P-Switch part. I felt like I was no more consistent than I was before. 1 hour and 40 minutes in I did get the jump off the spiny. And then I went head first into the spikes above me. But only a minute later I finally make progress! Alright now we're getting somewhere! Only issue? It was minute progress. You have to be fast here as you want to spin jump off the 2 yellow blocks higher up. You wanna spin as far to the right edge as possible and stay to the left of the Thwomp until it's low enough to where you can land on the next yellow block section. To which I did not do my first try. Oh and when you do get there? Don't hit the far right most yellow block you can hit. You'll only get pig noises. Oh so this level is a troll level now too. Ain't that nice? So you want to hit not the far right most block you can hit, grab the POW block below you, and throw it at the giant muncher. Emphasis on... you gotta do it fast. 2 hours and 7 minutes in I finally get to throw the POW on the muncher. From there you got to land on the moving blue platform then jump up to activate the 2nd one. Get back on the lower one bounce off a flying Mecha-Koopa spin jump off a couple buzzy shells. That... you guessed it... I did not do the first try. I did everything else just not the spinning off the shells.
At this point I definitely felt like I was starting to get a bit more consistent with the POW/P-Switch area. I still wasn't 100% but I was more than I was before. 2 and a half hours into the stream... yeah it was a long one. I finally spin jump off the first buzzy shell and once again head first into the spikes above me. Hey... progress is progress right? Sometimes it does feel like every time I make progress, it's my only chance I can be at that next area. Though only 7 minutes later I got past it. Hell yeah! Progress! The next section isn't too bad. You have to land on the long blue platform that goes up. Grab the spring then head down to the smaller blue platform. Carefully place the spring down and then jump off it and into the pipe up top. But you know at this point... I didn't fucking do it my first try. Hell, on my first try I dropped the spring right off the platform! Isn't that just amazing? About 14 minutes later I didn't drop the spring. But I couldn't make it into the pipe. I didn't even jump on the spring. Only a minute later I did jump off the spring but I didn't make it in the pipe. Ah I'm so close! Just over 10 minutes later... FINALLY! I'm in the pipe! And a checkpoint! Only 3 hours later and now it's past 4 in the morning and I am tired. XD! I still wanted to give this next HELL HOLE of a section a try. I mean seriously it takes a whole new direction. I switch back to the Pro Controller. You have to run across a corridor of fire bars, jump to some clouds below you but don't jump too high. Hit the ON/OFF switch, then there's this Thwomp with 3 Chain Chomp stumps on it that's pushing a Spike with a Muncher on it that's holding a spring. You have to get the spring, jump on the posts and try to stay on it. Them I assume you have to throw the spring on a muncher sitting on top of a red pipe and jump off the spring. That I did not do and at that point I was ready to call it quits. I didn't beat the level but I can feel satisfied knowing I made progress.
Good luck V. I ain't playing this level anymore. XD!
