Well that Diamondbacks/Dodgers game yesterday was a weird one. After losing to Arizona 9-5 in game 1, it seemed like the Los Angeles Dodgers was finally going to get a win. Yoshinobu Yamamoto had a clean game. 7 full innings, 1 hit, 2 walks, 9 strikeouts, 0 runs and earned runs. Yet the pitching was probably stressful since the Dodgers only put up 1 run the whole game. Going to the top of the 9th, Dodgers were up 1 to nothing. Arizona too had damn good pitching. Ryne Nelson and the entire Diamondbacks bullpen only allowed 1 run total.

And so... Dave Roberts decides to send out Tanner Scott. Strong reliever but tends to blow several saves. And blow a save he did. As Gabriel Moreno would blast a ball out to tie the game 1-1. At least the Dodgers get out of the top only tied. So worst case scenario, the game would go to extras. Not before the Dodgers would make things exciting. With Will Smith and Teoscar Hernandez being walked. Though Enrique Hernandez would end up striking out so the game does go to extras.

For some reason Scott was still pitching for Los Angeles. Maybe Dave Roberts thought that home run previously was a fluke. Well sadly for the LAD, it wasn't. Corbin Carroll blasts another one to make it 3-1 Diamondbacks. Suddenly things were looking gloom again. Would the Los Angeles Dodgers be 0-5 their last 5? After Carroll scores, the Diamondbacks were outed 2 more times. The Diamondbacks bullpen had been strong the whole game. They wouldn't blow it here would they?

Well... Torey Lovullo would send out Shelby Miller. A former pitcher of the Detroit Tigers. I remember him infamously for blowing a 2-0 lead. Giving the Kansas City Royals a 3-2 win. But hey... it looked like Miller was improving. He had an ERA of less than 2. He had a 100% win rate... maybe there was a chance! Well Tommy Edman doubles and Enrique Hernandez scores. It's 3-2 Diamondbacks. Okay that's fine. Just focus on the guy at bat. Ohtani gets intentionally walked. Makes sense. Not worth a risk. Mookie Betts flies out for the first out. Edman tags and goes to 3rd. But a double play is poss...annnnd Ohtani steals 2nd. Well they intentionally walk Freddie Freeman. So now they have a double play shot. Bases may be loaded. But pitch carefully and a win is still possible!

WELP... Will Smith gets hit by the pitch and the game is tied 3-3. So now the Diamondbacks are in HUGE trouble. They need a double play or strikeouts. So the pressure is stupidly huge. So what does Miller do? He lets Max Muncy sacrifice fly out and let Ohtani score the winning run. And the Dodgers survive and win 4-3. You now see why the Tigers got rid of Miller? This loss will definitely haunt him. And the Dodgers are back on the win column. They definitely needed that after getting swept by the Angels who got swept by the Tigers who got swept by the Dodgers.

Baseball makes sense.
