A very cursed series.

The Detroit Tigers now take on a 4 game losing streak for the first time in the 2025 MLB season after being swept by the Seattle Mariners at home... yikes. Talk about atrocious performances on every fucking side possible. I don't know what happened with the Mariners team we saw in our 2nd series of the year but it was not the same team. Needless to say, we got fucking destroyed.
It all went very bad very fast in the first game of the series. Tarik Skubal the starting pitcher. Usually unbelievably dominant. And while his pitching was still solid, he gave up 4 runs in 5 innings. While the Tigers did cut it down to a 1 run lead in that game, Seattle said hold my trident and suddenly went on a fucking rampage. Putting up 8 fucking runs in the 8th and 9th innings. Eh. Shit happens. You get blown out and you have a better game next time. No... no it was not better the next time. Casey Mize had an even worse performance. While the Tigers took on an early 1-0 lead, it lasted for... 5 minutes before it was suddenly 6-1 Mariners in the top of the 3rd. Montero came in for the top of the 4th. Leaving Mize with an incredibly short outing. His pitching wasn't terrible. He did give up 2 runs but it was an 8-4 game. In the top of the 7th, Enns comes in to do some pitching. And not long before it's suddenly a 9-4 game. But then Perez cuts it back to 4. And then Seattle put it up to 6 with a 2 run bomb. And then 7 with an RBI single. And then 8 with an RBI double. Like good grief either the Mariners were cheating or we were blasting fastballs down the middle every damn time. Mariners win game 2 and the series with a 15-7 score. Better offensive performance but shitty pitching performance.
One more game. Can the Tigers salvage the series? Probably not as Jack Flaherty very quickly leaves bases loaded with nobody out in the top of the 1st. Oh boy here comes the pain again. Or not as somehow the Tigers get out of that hole. And hey, Dillon Dingler gives the Tigers a pretty 2 run lead in the bottom of the 1st! Now let's not give that back. We gave it back. At least half of it back in the top of the 3rd. But that's fine. We still lead. For like... 2 minutes before it's tied with another Seattle home run. Tyler Holton was decent. Though he did give Seattle a one run lead now. Good. But... a Torres sac fly and a Riley Greene home run gives the Tigers a 4-3 lead! Alright! Going to the top of the 8th, Will Vest is pitching. Maybe we got a shot! Do we? Lol no. Will Vest's pitching was... how do I say it? Uh... eh? Bases loaded with nobody out. Mariners tie the game. But then... a deep inside fly out and a BEAUTIFUL double play! Unfortunately the party was short. Tigers got no runs in the bottom of the 8th. And decided to start the home run derby early as Kahnle gave up 2 homers, an RBI double and a Dingler throwing error to 3rd let Rodriguez score. So 8 to 4 going into the bottom of the 9th with Meadows, Baez, and Sweeney due up. Yeah the game was dead. Tigers rip off the band aid and lose the game 8-4.
The pitching overall in this series was absolutely shitty. It's like the team overall was more focused on the All-star game than the series itself. I hope that entire fucking bullpen gets their asses screamed off. And to the pitchers who are not going to the All-star game, I hope they get a shit load of pitching practice. At least we don't ever have to play Seattle again this season. At least until the playoffs. Which I hope the Tigers do. I would hate to all hell see the Tigers blow being 20 above .500 and having a 10+ game lead in the division. So the Detroit Tigers will unfortunately not hit 60 wins before the All-star game. But they still have a chance to be the first to 60. I just hope this isn't the falling point for this team. At this point we absolutely do need to get some pitching help come the deadline.
And Hinch? Here's an idea. Maybe wait until the Tigers are up by about 30 runs before you put Kahnle in.
