The NFL is back baby! And so is the Detroit Lions! The Lions will look to improve upon a 15-2 season... okay let's be real that ain't happening. I mean it's not impossible. But the Lions schedule for the 2025/26 season won't be nearly as easy as it has been the past couple years. Have you seen the teams they play this year? Yikes! The bigger goal is to just have a decent season this year and go 3 straight years in the playoffs. Can they also make it 3 straight NFC North Champions? There's probably a bigger chance than you think. The Bears get Ben Johnson... but let's be real... they'll probably keep being the Bears we know and love. And there's a lot of question marks with JJ McCarthy and the Minnesota Vikings. Can McCarthy send the Vikings to another damn good year like Sam Darnold did? Or will they sink back down in the ship? And the Packers? They might be the biggest competition in the North this year. Especially with their addition of Micah Parson from Dallas. So let's go ahead and take a look at what the season for the Lions in 2025 looks like.

Week 1... hey speaking of Green Bay... that's who the Lions play! The Lions have had a... reputation of OWNING the Packers in Lambeau. Going back to I believe the 2022 season where the Lions crushed any dreams of playoffs for the Packers. Since then, the Lions have always seemed to make Lambeau Field their 2nd home. And I don't think that's going to change. Not even with Micah Parsons. Lions will continue their stretch of owning Green Bay in Lambeau. Week 2, Lions invite Ben Johnson back to Detroit as they will face the Chicago Bears. Last year the Bears had a promising start going 4-2... and then going 1-10 after that. Personally? The Bears are one of those teams that show promise but quite aren't there yet. The Bears are honestly a scary team to play because they're bad but they can beat you. The only reason why the Lions beat this team in Detroit last year was because of mental stupidity of the Bears not calling their last timeout. I don't think Ben Johnson will make that mistake. I will call this a Toss Up game. Last year I called them Ceiling/Floor games. Toss Up is the same thing. Week 3, the Lions go to Baltimore... ehhhhhhh... these Birds seem to have the Lions number. According to StatMuse, the Ravens are currently 6-1 against the Lions all time. And honestly? They'll probably go 7-1. I hope the Lions don't get blown out this time. Either way, I'm calling it a loss here. But they'll bounce back in week 4 against the Browns in Detroit. The Browns got like... what... 10 quarterbacks? One of them has got to be good right? Probably none as good as Goff. Now week 5 against the Bengals? I think that'll be a really good game. Goff VS Burrow. That might be a hyped up match. I know the Bengals have question marks on their defense which is why I want to give Detroit the edge. However this being in Cincinnati, I will declare this another toss up.

Headed to Week 6 in Kansas City. The Chiefs? Are they good? Uh... no not really. I mean yeah they got Mahomes and Kelce and... a nonexistant defense. I mean you saw how they played against the Chargers in Brazil. The Chiefs defense could RARELY stop the Chargers. And the last time the Lions were in Kansas City, they upset the Chiefs in week 1. I don't think there will be an upset here. I think it'll be a flat out win for Detroit. Before the bye week the Lions will play Tampa Bay. Detroit typically has Tampa's number. Though the last time they played the Bucs, it wasn't a pretty game. There was some underestimating going on. Detroit figured... well Tampa is usually a down the middle team, 9-8 or 10-7. And that bit THEM in the kneecaps. I think they will be a bit more competitive against Baker Mayfield but I will declare this another toss up. I think this game will be close and high scoring at the end. Lions then get the bye week. A later bye week which I think they need. Before staying home to play the Vikings. Again... question marks with McCarthy. But did you see how the Lions PUMMELED the Vikings in week 18 last year? It's like the Vikings didn't want the 1st seed. Oh well too bad so sad for them. Lions own the Vikings, they will DESTROY McCarthy and get the dub! And then... it's revenge time. Washington fucked us in Detroit. I want Detroit to fuck the Commanders in Washington. Especially if the Lions defense stays healthy this long. I think they'll be a lot more competitive. I mean hey the Bears almost beat the Commanders in Washington. I think the Lions will actually beat the Commanders in Washington. After that... the Lions go to Philly to play the Eagles. If my predictions hold through and the Lions have a damn good record, this could be another super hyped game between 2 NFC power houses. And we could get a taste of the NFC Championship that could've and should've been. Either the Eagles blow the Lions out or it's a competitive match between Jalen Hurts and Jared Goff. Eagles did lose a lot of defensive guys during the offseason which is why there might be a little more of a chance? I will declare this a toss up.

What I won't declare a toss up is week 12 at home against the Giants. I don't think the Lions are scared of Russell Wilson. I mean you see how they destroyed him when he was a Denver Bronco? I remember that. That was a good week. And Detroit will do it again as they will beat the New York Giants before they face the Packers in week 13. Still in Detroit. So you know how the Lions seem to own the Packers in Lambeau? Well the Packers seem to be... a lot more competitive once they come to Ford Field. Don't you dare fucking ask me why. The Lions did pull off the walk off against Green Bay in Detroit last year. Especially thanks to a clutch defensive dance that made Green Bay settle for a field goal and then Detroit marched down that fucking field and kicked the game winning field goal. I will declare this another toss up simply because I think Green Bay will once again play more competitively in Detroit. Hey speaking of marching down the field, remember when a couple years ago Detroit marched down the field in Dallas and scored and got the 2 point but then Brad FuckFace said uh actually no it's illegal touching? Good times... good times... Hey I think Detroit in Week 14 will march down the field once again... a shit load of times. And embarrass the shit of Dallas AGAIN in Detroit on Primetime!... Prime... Video time! XD! Next up they head to Los Angeles to take on Matthew Stafford once again. 3rd year in a row now. How about that? Stafford is definitely a solid quarterback and I'm sure Goff will look forward to coming home again. Where he will once again bury Stafford deeper in his fucking grave. Stafford's getting old. I mean yeah like I said he's solid. But he hasn't been able to get past Detroit these past 2 years. I know it's a different environment playing in Los Angeles this time as opposed to Detroit. However, I will give the Lions the dub. Plus Cooper Kupp is a Seahawk now. I know he was a star player in LA. Meanwhile the Lions still got all their receivers.

In week 16, the Lions will have their final home game as they face the PittsburHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh my gosh I'm so sorry I couldn't say that with a straight face. Hey do you wanna see Kerby Joseph intercept Aaron Rodgers 50 times again? ME TOO! Yeah there is no question. Easy DUB-UH-YOU here. Following that they will play JJ McCarthy once again in Minnesota for their 2nd game against the Vikings. Last year in Minnesota oh boy did the Lions ever come up clutch? Despite giving up the lead plus punting the ball away with very little time left, the Lions marched down the field, kicked the go ahead field goal, and won the game! I bet you Minnesota fans will be LOUD. Being in Minnesota, I can expect the Vikings to have a few more scores here. Especially as by now McCarthy might be in a rhythm? Or not. We'll have to see. Either way, I'm declaring this a toss up. Man so many toss ups can I just give Detroit a win? Hell yeah I can. Lions play in Chicago for Week 18 to play the Bears one more time. And oh boy Detroit better show to the world that they never needed Ben Johnson. He was just a hair covering the better picture anyway. I hope the Lions defense shuts down and humiliates Caleb Williams and makes him cry and hug his mama again. That would be BEAUTIFUL to see. The Lions CRUSHING the Bears in Week 18 as the Bears run off to Cancun once again while the Lions march down the road to the Super Bowl!... I hope... okay yes I get it. We need to address the concerns. The lack of Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn. Yes I agree losing those coordinators can hurt. But they got 2 new coordinators in John Morton who worked with Dan Campbell before on the offensive side and Kelvin Sheppard who was the linebacker coach for Detroit since 2021! So these guys have experience working with the Lions at least.

Plus you got to realize the Lions still got their cast of guys. Jared Goff the Quarterback. Sonic and Knuckles also known as Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery the Runningbacks. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond, and isaac TeSlaa the Wide Receivers. Sam LaPorta and Brock Wright the Tight Ends. Taylor Decker, Grahm Glasgow, Christian Mahogany, Tate Ratledge and especially Penei Sewell for the O-Line. Who the fuck could forget superstar Aiden Hutchinson which could be comeback player of the year after his season ending injury in Dallas last year. Alex Anzalone, Derrick Barnes, Jack Campbell, Trevor Nowaske your linebackers. Terrion Arnold, Brian Branch, Khalil Dorsey, Kerby Joseph, D.J. Reed, Amik Robertson your Defensive Backs. Jack Bates your long legged kicker, Jack Fox your long legged punter, and Hogan Hatten your long snapper. And so many more I didn't name. I don't give a shit if the Lions did poorly in the preseason. These are the real guys now. They've played this fucking game before. And of course Dan Campbell is still coaching this team. Brad Holmes is still the GM. Sheila Hamp is still the owner. I don't want to see anybody... ANYBODY have concerns until we get a few weeks in. It's going to be a damn good season and I'm going to enjoy every game. Unless otherwise I will plan on watching every game. (Except the Thanksgiving and Christmas games. I'll be with family during that time.) Anyways, my ceiling for the Lions is surprisingly 16-1... yeah I don't think that'll happen. That would be if Detroit literally won every toss up game I gave them. Looking back I guess I really did give them one lock down loss didn't I? My floor for the Lions is 10-7. Which is more realistic. Overall I can see Detroit going probably round 10 or 11 wins this year. Which still should lock them down for a playoff spot. A 3-peat NFC North title is definitely possible too.

Honestly? I wouldn't necessarily say that the Packers have any of an easier schedule. I think the Lions and Packers schedule strengths are roughly even. Same with the Vikings and Bears. So I think both the Packers and Lions have an equal chance at the NFC North title this year. But of course we all know I am obviously rooting for the Lions to win it once again. And actually win a fucking playoff game this year too.
