Alright... the Lions are starting 0-1 this year. That hasn't happened since the 2022 season when the Lions lost in week 1 at home to Philly. The difference here, they lost to a fucking divisional rival. Salt to the wound right?

Green Bay would get the ball first and despite a holding penalty to start Green Bay on their own 17 yard line, and a 3rd and 9 at the Lions 15 yard line, Jordan Love would throw the ball to Tucker Kraft Mac & Cheese to give Green Bay a 7-0 lead. So not a great start. But hey... it's early in the game. Jared Goff is out on the field now. It's time to give John Morton a welcome debut as he would take this offense to... a 3 and out... alright so not a good start on defense and not a good start on offense. Detroit's run plays really got them nowhere. Not on handoffs nor screen passes. So Jack Fox boots the ball away and Green Bay after a return by Golden starts at their own 48. Shorter field this time. Jordan Love throws a huge 26 yard pass to Reed to the Lions 23 yard line. Though at least in that drive that would be their biggest play. After another 5 yard run, 2 yard pass, and an incompletion, Green Bay settles for 3. Gotta think positive right? The Lions were down 10-0 before to Minnesota last year and they won. Let's get some points on the board. Or pick up 15 yards of penalties. So we're dumped on our own 5 fucking yard line. At least Jahmyr Gibbs would pick up a 14 yard run to make it 2nd and 1. Hey... a... decent run! How about that? Not much run action after that though. A nice 19 yard pass from Goff to St. Brown. Packers challenged it thinking maybe St. Brown was out of bounds. But he wasn't. Short gains here and there but we were running down the field at least. Sadly the drive only ends in 3 after a 3rd and 5 incompletion. I guess it's better to at least get on the board. I know Dan Campbell is about being aggressive. However sometimes you need to slow down and play it safe. 10-3 Packers.

Sadly the 7 point deficit only gets worse after 53 fucking seconds. Before Detroit could fucking blink, Green Bay scores another touchdown. But it's alright. The Lions are back at the Packers 16 yard line. 3rd and 7. They got a chance to make it a 7 point game again... Goff throws a pick... going all the way down the field for nothing. That stings. That really does. 17-3 Packers with just over a minute to go. Packers would go 3 and out on their next drive. But by the time the Lions got the ball back, there was 5 seconds left so Goff would take a knee. Alright... down by 14 at half time... not... ideally great. And I think some points would be nice. First drive of the 2nd half, Detroit once again marches down the field to the Packers 10. However after an incompletion looking for St. Brown and then a handoff to Gibbs that loses 6 yards, and then being short of 1st down... well actually they couldn't get a 1st down because they were in "and goal". So unfortunately they would once again have to settle for 3. I mean it's points but holy fuck we need a touchdown. We've had several chances now but just couldn't get there. Detroit's defense miraculously holds Green Bay to punting. And then Green Bay does the same to Detroit. And then Detroit again to Green Bay! And Green Bay to Detroit! Man it's just punt city here! Can Detroit make Green Bay punt again? Lol no. Didn't help that after Detroit's punt, Green Bay would return it to the Lions 36 yard line. So Green Bay didn't have much field to score a touchdown. So... they have less than 8 minutes to score 3 touchdowns, one with a 2 point conversion, and not give up any more points. Hey... comeback dream alive right? Nope. Goff is sacked on 4th and 2 and Green Bay takes a field goal. Welp that's your dagger.

So now it's garbage time. Can the Lions get pity points? Their offense has shown a little light this whole game. Of course too little too late they finally score a touchdown. It almost wasn't but the officials determined that TeSlaa the rookie did indeed have his feet down in the end zone. What a hell of a catch too! Hopefully they'll give him more catches because I think he'll make a damn fine wide receiver! Detroit of course goes for an onside kick, fails horribly, game over. So... ugly. Ugly ugly ugly. You never want to start a season like that. I mean yeah you can only beat the Packers in Lambeau so many times. And the Lions could not continue that streak. Lions do play Chicago in Detroit in week 2. They better fucking win that game. Starting 0-2 going to Baltimore? Oh hell no. That's not my Lions team. No I admit despite the ugly performance, the Lions offensively at least didn't look that awful. Statistically wise. Goff was 31 for 39 with a touchdown. The late touchdown of course but still a touchdown. Lions were 3 for 4 on 4th downs while the Packers only went for 1 4th down conversion and got it. The Lions only had 2.1 yards per rush. But the Packers only had 1 yard more. And the Lions won the possession game. Holding on to the ball for 10 minutes and 50 seconds more. So if you look at the statistics, the offense wasn't horrible. Just couldn't score. Hopefully they can score against a Ben Johnson led Chicago Bears. Oh and you know they won't give Ben Johnson a warm welcome home. Hopefully being familiar with Johnson's play calling will give Detroit defense a little bit of an advantage... and then they fucking destroy Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears with a 84-3 score. I would like that.
